ACT Brumbies  could strike a big deal to have Matt Giteau for 2017  season. But the Super Rugby title winner’s deal with French giant Toulon will make quite difficult for him.

Following the footsteps of the NSW Waratahs Brumbies would take a bold bid for Giteau. And attempts to sign him Toulon teammate Drew Mitchell for a Super Rugby 2017 comeback.

Matt Giteau was in injury, but now he is active in France to fulfill his duties with one of the richest clubs in the world.

He was very happy with Toulon in 2 year deal and he was ready for continuing. Even he was ready to finish his career there. He is now 34 but still he is the best choice for any club. He proved his ability in last world cup and could slot back into Super Rugby 2017.

Presence of Matt Giteau could take a massive boost for the Brumbies with teams. Lealiifano is recovering now so it is badly needed a key player and Giteau can play a vital role for the team. He would have also added valuable leadership as the Brumbies prepare to find a new captain following Lealiifano’s illness and the departure of Stephen Moore.

Giteau was in championship-winning side in 2004 and was the club’s captain in 2011. He left Australian rugby in 2011. After that he was continuing to Toulon.

So Brumbies officials showed interest and wants Giteau comeback. They were prepared to investigate options, but it’s understood he is committed to finish his deal with Toulon for 2 years. At that point ACT Brumbies considered a huge bid over Matt Giteau and wants him for ACT squads.

The Brumbies have only two days of training left before the Christmas break. Players will return on January 5 and coach Stephen Larkham will appoint a captain before their first game in February 25 with the Crusaders. In the first pre-season training block 8 players have stepped up in leadership roles with the squad’s Wallabies contingent away on international duties.

The club is considering Jarrad Butler as a future leader and has been in charge of the Canberra Vikings’ National Rugby Championship side. At that point Butler said “If I got the opportunity, that would be awesome and I’d relish it. But we haven’t spoken about that at all and it’s definitely not something that I’ve even thought about. There are so many guys that I think would do a really good job in that position’’.

“There’s always going to be competition and the back row is always highly competitive,” Butler said. So there is quite a few option for them. So ACT Brumbies considered a huge bid over Matt Giteau for 2017 super rugby season.[ According to Sydney Morning Herald]
